I have had a fair few stabs at some fad diets in my time but I have never found one that has worked well to both lose weight but also maintain it afterwards. It is for this reason that I have decided to take part in the DUKAN DIET. After many warnings and praise, sob and success stories, I thought it was time to give it a whirl myself and get back into shape.
I don’t want something that is a fast fix (I have tried the maple syrup diet and lost 11 pounds in 10 day…that cannot be healthy!), I want something that will produce results quickly (because I am the world’s most impatient person) but also something that will help me maintain the weight loss afterwards. This is where the DUKAN DIET ticks pretty much all of the boxes. It works in a series of stages. The first being, THE ATTACK phase.During this phase, you are only to eat protein-rich foods. I thought this would be easy because I love meat, fish, eggs etc, HOWEVER, I did not realise how hard it would be to give up my beloved carbs. No baguettes, No pasta, No bagels, No muffins, No cakes, No toast…the list goes on. It works by simply shocking the body with high protein intake, which makes you lose the weight fast.
So, Day One. I weight 9st 6 and have the target weight of 8st 6, here it goes….
I had eggs for Breakfast, cottage cheese for my midmorning snack, 250g of grilled chicken breast for lunch and a fillet of haddock for my dinner.
My cravings are pretty bad, but I have a picture of Poppy Delavigne glued to my work computer and iMac at home which keeps me in line. It also doesn’t help that my boss decided to treat us all to cupcakes in the office this morning, oh AND the fact that its pancake day tomorrow. That is going to be a killer.Well, watch this space.
Peace,
O x
